I am a disabled veteran.

Coming to this place, being around the people and animals just helps one to just be their selves! A sense of long lost peace comes to you. All of their horses, goats and dogs each have their own uniqueness! This place is a Blessing and safe haven, not only to the animals, but to all that work there and to veterans!

Bethany's Gait Military

Rescuing Horses and Restoring Lives

Bethany’s Gait is a 501(c)3 non-profit ranch in Prescott, Arizona dedicated to “Rescuing Horses, Restoring Lives.”  Our programs were created specifically for active duty, reserve and veteran military personnel, first responders, and their families. Our ranch is nestled in Williamson Valley with spectacular views of Granite Mountain and the surrounding area, providing for a peaceful, private environment.  One of the things that makes our program unique is that we are also a horse rescue.  We have found bringing the rescue horses together with the people offers a dynamic situation where horse and human heal through a bond that is developed based on unconditional love, unwavering trust and a keen understanding of what the other has been through.

How it All Began.

It was in the early 90’s when Cristi Silverberg-Rose met Bethany, a five year old foster child who had been living in a children’s home.  She was a beautiful little girl whose way of coping was to shut the world out.  They met at a horse camp where Cristi mentored Bethany and watched her blossom as she worked and bonded with the horses. Cristi decided someday she would have a ranch that was all about healing; fifteen years later, in 2006, Bethany’s Gait opened its doors in Southern California.

Expanding to Serve Military and their Families

In 2009, after seeing how much healing the horses had brought to the children, Cristi’s husband had an idea. In his 24 years as a Marine Corps officer he had seen a lot of Marines and their families struggle with the demands of life in the military, particularly when dealing with combat.

Sadly, he had also dealt with the rising cases of suicide and divorce.  As a member of the military, he knew sitting in a room with a therapist wasn’t the answer.  Together he and Cristi created a program that was specifically for active duty, reserve and veteran members of the military and their families to deal with the unique issues they faced.  After running the military program with great success in Southern California, they decided to move it to Prescott, Arizona in Spring 2013, where more than 28,000 veterans reside.

Soon, Bethany’s Gait began serving first responders as well.
